Generally, hybrid cars are divided into three types: full hybrid, mild hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. The way the hybrid system works in each type of car has its own differences.

1.  How Full Hybrid Works

The full hybrid system consists of several types, namely parallel hybrid, serial hybrid and parallel serial hybrid. For a parallel hybrid system, the power source is generated from three combinations, namely a gasoline engine, an electric motor or a combination of both.

Both power sources in this hybrid engine will actively work continuously and cannot be separated. At low speeds, the gasoline engine will charge the battery when the vehicle wheels are moving.

2. How Mild Hybrid Works

The mild hybrid system usually uses an additional battery as a power source but with a smaller capacity than the main battery. The goal is to ease the work of the engine during the initial force because the workload is heavier.

The way this type of hybrid engine works does not use a separate electric motor but utilizes the optimization of the starter generator component of the starter motor and alternator found on the main engine. This system serves to help relieve the performance of the gasoline engine by providing an injection of power at the beginning of acceleration.

3. How Plug in Hybrid Works

The workings of the plug in hybrid system are not much different from the full hybrid system.  However, this type of hybrid engine offers a longer range of electric motor usage because it uses a battery with a larger capacity.

For plug in hybrid engines, vehicle owners can recharge the battery. The trick is to do the charging at home or SPKLU by using the plug in. Because it uses a large battery capacity, gasoline engines are rarely used.

1.  Cara Kerja Full Hybrid

2. Cara Kerja Mild Hybrid

Sistem mild hybrid biasanya menggunakan baterai tambahan sebagai sumber tenaga namun dengan kapasitas lebih kecil dari baterai utamanya. Tujuannya adalah untuk meringankan kerja mesin saat angkatan awal karena beban kerja lebih berat.

Cara kerja mesin hybrid jenis ini tidak memakai motor listrik yang terpisah namun memanfaatkan optimalisasi komponen starter generator dari starter motor dan alternator yang terdapat pada mesin utama. Sistem ini berfungsi untuk membantu meringankan kinerja mesin bensin dengan cara memberikan suntikan tenaga pada saat awal akselerasi

3. Cara Kerja Plug in Hybrid

Cara kerja dari sistem plug in hybrid tidak jauh berbeda dengan sistem full hybrid.  Namun mesin hybrid jenis ini menawarkan daya jelajah penggunaan motor listrik yang lebih jauh karena menggunakan baterai dengan kapasitas lebih besar.

Untuk  mesin jenis plug in hybrid, pemilik kendaraan bisa melakukan pengisian ulang daya baterai. Caranya adalah dengan melakukan pengecasan di rumah atau SPKLU dengan menggunakan plug in tersebut. Karena menggunakan kapasitas baterai yang besar, mesin bensin jadi jarang digunakan.
